Welcome to the online home of the Underwater Historical Research Society. Founded in 2004, the mission of UHRS is to “Research, Identify, and Educate.” Over the past six years, the UHRS team has been fortunate to work with a wide array of historians, divers, archivists, and members of the public, to further our mission. A key component in our mission is to bring aspects of our maritime history - from rum runners to submarines - from amazing rescues to terrible maritime disasters - to the community. The UHRS team, whether conducting its research above or below the surface, remains dedicated to bringing our community the finest in historical maritime research.
Please feel free to browse our multiple offerings, attend an upcoming lecture, drop us a question, or order a book or two. Most importantly be sure to take a "dip" into the rich history that awaits you in our local waters and community. There are currently over ten research publications, a host of monthly articles and archive articles available for purchase or ordering. In addition, our team is able to provide assistance with your current dive team or historical society's research activities. Over the recent year we have helped a wide range of students, fellow researchers, and members of the general public in their various research projects.
The team of researchers, divers, writers, and researchers is currently working on various underwater research projects and visitors to our site will be the first to know of upcoming publications, available UHRS merchandise, and information. Please feel free to navigate throughout the site and “dive” into the Underwater Historical Research Society today.
